Jesus' Mission

Bible Reading: Matthew 1:21

Matthew 1:12 says this about Jesus’ birth – “She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

Jesus left His kingdom in heaven and lived for 33 years on earth as a human man with one purpose in mind – to save His people, us, from our sins. Everything that He did, everything that He said, was aimed at that single goal.

When He gave sight to the blind, Jesus wanted them to see God.

When He returned hearing to the deaf, Jesus wanted them to hear God’s voice.

When He made the crippled able to walk, Jesus wanted them to run into God’s loving arms.

When He forgave the sins of those who had wronged God, Jesus wanted them to copy His actions and forgive the sins of those who’d wronged them.

While demonstrating obedience, kindness, selflessness, patience, and genuine unconditional love for us, Jesus showed us God’s grace, acceptance, perfection, understanding, generosity, and unconditional love for us.

Jesus’ death and resurrection completed His primary mission here on earth and cleared the way – the only way – for us to be with God – believing that Jesus died because we have sinned.

Now Jesus wants us to go out into our neighborhoods and continue His mission by showing The Way to God to those around us.

“For this is what the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’” Acts 13:47

Prayer: Heavenly Father, use me now to show Jesus to those around me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
