Bible Reading: John 17:14, 15
In John 17:14 & 15, Jesus’ prayed this prayer for anyone who believes in Him: “I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more
than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.”
Jesus knew that people would hate us because we believe that He is God.
Jesus knew that those people would attack us verbally and physically.
Knowing that, Jesus prayed for us. He asked His Father – Our God – to protect us from “the evil one”, that is, Satan and his evil followers.
God has heard Jesus’ prayer and has promised to protect us.
Let God know that you personally are claiming His promise of protection. Go to God and tell him your worries, needs, and fears. You can even “remind” Him of Jesus’ prayer on your behalf. It’s okay to feel weak and needy and to let God know how you’re feeling. Remember, the weaker we are, the stronger God is. Remember Jesus’ words in 2 Corinthians 12:9: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
“In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” 2 Timothy 3:12
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that Your grace is sufficient for me and that Your power is made perfect in my weakness. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
