Bible Reading: Luke 6:22 & Mark 13:13

Jesus treated people only with love, kindness, and compassion. He healed the sick, revived the dead, and gave hope and forgiveness to the hopeless and hated. Still, people hated

Jesus, ridiculed Him, teased Him, attacked Him physically, and even killed Him.

Jesus never promised to clear our lives of all the mean people and their cruel words and thoughtless actions. In fact, Jesus actually promises that if we follow and obey God, people will ridicule and mistreat us.

For example, in Luke 6:22 Jesus says, “Blessed are you when men hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.” Then, in Mark 13:13 He said, “All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.” Notice that Jesus used the words “when” and “will” in these verses, not “if” or “might.”

However, Jesus has also promised to give us all the strength and courage we need to endure being treated cruelly.

No one ever said that serving God was easy, but it’s worth it!

“I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for promising to help me endure put-downs and pressure. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
