Inspiration

Bible Reading: 1 Thessalonians 1:3

Inspiration is more than simply getting a good idea or a creative way to use an old idea. Inspiration is God communicating with us. Inspiration allows us to see God’s

greatness, to understand the depth of God’s love, to experience God’s forgiveness, and to see God’s plan for our lives. When God inspires us, He gives us a glimpse of what life can be if we act in a God-directed way and we begin to passionately desire to serve Him and eager to act on that desire.

1Thessalonians 1:3 says that our ability to endure is “inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.” Inspiration springs from the hope that we have in Jesus Christ. God uses Jesus, God’s Living Word and the Holy Bible, God’s written word to give us hope which, in turn inspires us and gives us what we need to persevere, even in hard times. Sometimes this inspiration and hope comes from something we hear spoken aloud in a sermon, in a classroom, or in the witness of a friend. Sometimes it comes from God’s still small voice as we sit silently reading of the Bible during our personal devotions.

However that inspiration comes, it will edify us, encourage us, and build up our faith. It will push us to persevere in living the life God wants us to live and doing the work that God has given us to do.

Let’s stay close to God, through prayer and by reading the Bible so that we will be able to endure anything that comes our way.

“You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” Hebrews 10:36

Prayer: Heavenly Father, use Your Word to inspire me to continue to persevere as I serve You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
