Bible Reading: Psalm 24:3-4
Some people say, “Honesty doesn’t pay.” While they don’t see the value of honesty – God does. In fact, Psalm 24:3 & 4 says, “Who may ascend the hill of the LORD? Who may
stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false.” In other words, nothing dishonest or false will enter or be found in heaven.
God wants us to remain honest, even if it means putting off having what we want. He wants us to be honest, even when other people think it strange. He wants us to be honest even when it would be easier to cheat “just a little” or to “tell a white lie.” He wants us to live by the motto, “Honesty is the best policy.” To God, honesty isn’t just the “best” policy; honesty is the only policy. Honesty is God’s policy.
Stick to living honestly and speaking honestly even when others look at you strangely or try to tempt you to “fudge” just once. Honesty pleases and honors God.
“For we aim at what is honorable not only in the Lord's sight but also in the sight of man.” 2 Corinthians 8:21 ESV
Prayer: Heavenly Father, it would be so easy to simply give in order to get along. Help me to uphold the standard of integrity that You desire me to live by. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
