Bible Reading: Psalm 25:7
The psalmist who wrote Psalm 25:7 understood that he hadn’t lived the pure life God wanted him to live. He cried out to God in anguish seeking forgiveness and saying,
“Remember not the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you are good, O LORD.”
Thankfully, thought God does have a set specific standards for purity, which He expects us to obey, He does have a plan for those who have already blown it and fallen short of God’s standard of purity? What is God’s plan?
* God will love that person anyway. He always has, and He always will.
* God will forgive that person. Simply ask for God’s forgiveness.
* God will forget the past. He will never tell anyone about past mistakes.
* God will give a fresh start. After asking God for forgiveness, He makes life as pure as pure can be, giving anyone who turns to Him an opportunity to begin again, a chance, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to live up to God’s standard of purity.
What a wonderful gift – forgiveness and an new life!
Don’t worry that this precious gift is for everyone because God loves to forgive people.
“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,” Acts 3:19
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your forgiveness and for the new life I have in Jesus. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
