Bible Reading: John 14:18
When we are going through hard times, one of the things we feel is loneliness. It’s easy to feel as if no one cares, as if we’ve been abandoned to our own sadness and fear.
Sometimes we even begin to feel as if God as abandoned us. We become so lost in our struggles and sorrow that we can’t see God through the fog of our own emotions.
However, just as on a foggy night the road is still there and is illumined by the headlights of our car as we drive through the fog, God is still there in the fog of our struggles and sorrows and sadness and fear. If we simply shine the light of hope through prayer and trust in God toward Him, we will see His presence in our lives.
God has not now, nor will He ever abandon us. He is present in our lives now through the Holy Spirit and He will send His Son, Jesus to come for us and take us to be with Him in heaven someday. In fact, in today’s Bible verse, Jesus made this promise to us: “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” With that in mind, we can always be assured that God is there, even in the fog.
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23 4
Prayer: Heavenly Father, clear the fog from my eyes so that I can see You and be reassured by Your constant presence in my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
