Gifts from God (11)

Bible Reading: John 14:27 & Romans 5:1

In John 14:27 Jesus said, “I leave you peace. It is my own peace I give you.” Peace is another gift from God. Many, many people claim to want peace, but very few actually claim the

peace that God offers to give them.

I think that is because people think too small when they define what peace is. Some people think of peace as a quiet room or sitting under a tree by a babbling brook. Others define peace as a life without problems. Still others claim true peace is a world without war or violence.

God defines true peace very differently.

The peace Jesus us gives us is calm, quiet contentment. When we let Jesus take control of our lives, we can relax and trust Him to take care of us. We can live in harmony with God and His plan for our lives. We can give everything in our lives to God and let God do all of the worrying. We can trust God to take care of all of the details of our lives. We can feel confident that no matter what happens in our lives, God is in control. God knows what is best for us. That is Jesus’ peace.

It is truly impossible to fully describe how this peace feels or how it works. The only way to understand it is to experience it personally. Each one of us can only experience this indescribable peace when we individually choose to admit our sin, ask God’s forgiveness, and invite Jesus Christ to send His Holy Spirit to live in us.

You can have Jesus’ peace.

How? When you accept Jesus in your life, God has promised to give you peace that will last forever. Ask Jesus to forgive your sins and take control every detail of your life. Make Jesus the most important thing in your life. Then Jesus will give you His peace. Romans 5:1 gives us this promise – “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

I hope you accept Jesus and Jesus’ peace today.

“And because you belong to Christ Jesus, God's peace will stand guard over all your thoughts and feelings. His peace can do this far better than our human minds.” Philippians 4:7

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the true peace, the eternal peace, that I have through my faith In Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
