Bible Reading: Romans 6:23
Eternal life. I’m not sure many people realize that this is a gift from God.
The gift of eternal life is available to everyone, but only accepted by a few. Many people
don’t believe this gift is real. Other people enjoy this life so much that they don’t want to think about the gift of eternal life. Still others are blinded by their need for God’s gift of eternal life. They are either drowning in the pain of this life or simply choosing to ignore and reject God’s loving and generous offer of eternal life. They are blind to the truth found in Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” All people who have chosen not to accept God’s gift of eternal life are, at the same time, choosing to live under the penalty of eternal death.
Jesus wants us to possess eternal life in heaven, not try to own many temporary things here on earth. How can we possess eternal life heaven?
Tell God you are sorry for your sins. Tell Him you believe Jesus died for your sins. Ask God to forgive your sins. When you do this, you will have accepted Jesus’ gift of eternal life.
Eternal life doesn’t start after we die. Eternal life begins the instant we confess our sin and give our lives to God. In that moment, we are no longer spiritually dead. We come alive, spiritually. We begin to live, spiritually, and our spirits will go on to live eternally, in heaven with God, after our physical bodies die.
When we arrive in heaven, we will have all eternity to rest from the pain, suffering, struggle, and heartbreaks of the short, temporary lives we have here on earth. We will exchange all of that for peace, joy, contentment, and perfect fellowship with God and with one another.
If you are still waiting to accept God’s gift, why wait any longer? Claim His gift of eternal life by confessing your sin and professing your belief in Jesus. Start living now!
If you have already accepted God’s gift of eternal life through faith in Jesus, live for Him! That is how we show God and other people that we are grateful for the gift of eternal life that God has given to us.
“Very truly I [Jesus] tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” John 5:24
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your amazing gift of eternal life. I want to start now showing You my gratitude by living a life of service and obedience to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
