Bible Verses to Explore: Revelation 2:1-7
Remember the last time you saw a full moon? It was bright, beautiful, and exciting!
Then, the moon waned. It became thinner and thinner each night until it was just a
sliver in the sky.
Do you remember the day when you asked Jesus to forgive your sins and take control of your life? You felt excited. You wanted to share Jesus with all your friends. You read the Bible every day.
The people in today’s Bible reading had lost that excitement. In verse 4 of today's Bible reading, John said, “You have left the love you had in the beginning.” Their love for Jesus had waned. The excitement they felt when they first accepted Jesus had disappeared.
John then encouraged them to find that excitement again telling them to “remember
where you were before you fell. Change your hearts and do what you did at first.” (verse 5)
Has your love for Jesus waned? Has your eagerness to share Jesus with your friends or to study God’s Word disappeared? Remind yourself of God’s command in Deuteronomy 6:5 – “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength” and take steps to rekindle your first love. Tell God that you still love Him. Ask Him to bring back the excitement and eagerness that you felt when your faith was new. Tell God that you want to love Him with your whole heart.
Let’s pray. Heavenly Father, we love you. Help us to always be excited to serve You and share You with other people. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
I hope you will download the Inductive Bible Study Guide and take another step in rekindling your love for God by spending some quality time with Him and His word.
God bless!
