Few Words

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 1:10

Have you noticed that oftentimes the more you talk, the more words you say, the less important your message seems to be?

When we have something really important to say, we often say it with one word, like, “Fire!” or “Help!”

Notice Hannah’s prayer in today’s verse. This verse says“In bitterness of soul Hannah wept much and prayed to the LORD.” Notice that “Hannah wept much and prayed,” not “Hannah wept and prayed much.” Hannah’s prayer was short and to the point. She told God her problem and made her request, then she trusted God to answer her prayer.

Take a lesson from Hannah. When you have something to tell God, or ask Him for, be sincere in your motives and emotions, and get to the point.

Tell God, then trust God.

“And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” Matthew 6:7 & 8

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I trust You to answer my prayers. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
