Bible Reading: John 1:12
None of our families are perfect. We get annoyed by each other’s weird little quirks. We all have arguments. Sometimes our families feud, fall apart, or go through
other tough times.
It was no different for the “greats” of the Bible. Jacob’s sons’ sibling rivalry became so bad that they actually considered killing their brother, Joseph and did sell him into slavery. Rahab put her entire family at risk of arrest and execution in order to help the Hebrew spies. All of Job’s sons and daughters died suddenly in an enemy attack. King David’s son Adonijah tried to steal his father’s kingdom while David lay sick and dying. Jesus’ own brothers rejected Him.
God never promised that if we believed in Jesus and accepted Him as our Savior our lives or families would be perfect. He never promised that we wouldn’t get annoyed with each other, have disagreements, or suffer tragedy.
What God did promise was that He would give us His strength, wisdom, and comfort to cope with whatever we face with our families and that He would always be there to go through the “feud” with us. God promised that “…to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
“It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” 1 Corinthians 13:7
Prayer: Heavenly Father, my family really needs Your presence and help in our relationships with each other. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
