Don't Be Fooled

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

Bible Reading: Matthew 24:5-6 & 1 John 4:1-6

There are people to try to cheat or steal by saying an imitation diamond is the real thing. However, it is nearly impossible to fool someone who has spent years studying real

diamonds. An experienced jeweler can tell a genuine diamond from a fake at a glance. He knows what a genuine diamond looks like.

Sadly, there are also people who try to fool people into do things that God doesn’t want them to do. These people will lie and cheat to try to make us believe that their message is from God. In Matthew 24:5 & 6 Jesus warned, “…many will come in my name, claiming, `I am the Christ,' and will deceive many.” It is important to know about the real Jesus so we won’t be fooled by an imitation.

How can we be sure we can tell the real Jesus and His message from all the fakes that will try to deceive us?

Spend more time studying the genuine article – the real Jesus – by reading the Bible, attending teaching and worship services, praying, and doing personal Bible study. When we do those things, we will make it nearly impossible to be fooled by a fake.

“This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.” 1 John 4:2 & 3

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me sharpen my eyes and mind. Help me get to know You so well that I won’t be fooled by any fakes. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
