Dirty dishes

Bible Reading: Proverbs 21:25

Dishes are one of life’s endless chores. If you want to eat, you will get dishes dirty and have to wash them. You can limit the quantity of work you have to do by using paper

plate and paper cups. You can put off doing the work of washing the dishes by letting them stack up, but doing that will leave you with a pile of crusty, hard to clean dishes when you do get around to washing them. You can get out of washing dishes altogether by leaving the job for someone else to do, but who can have any pride in knowing that he has pushed his responsibility off on someone else? Besides, Proverbs 21:25 warns us about the hazards of laziness saying, “The desires of lazy people will be their ruin, for their hands refuse to work.”

Obeying God isn’t always easy. However, living God’s way should be a routine, daily activity. Trying to get around or put off the responsibilities that God has given you only make the job harder later. You’ll have built up a pile of crusty, hard-to-break habits that you’ll have to get through in order to get the job done.

God wants you to obey Him. He wants you to do the job that He’s given you, not put it off until later or push it off on someone else.

Are you diligently and faithfully obeying God and doing the work he has given you to do?

How can you be even better about obeying God and living His way in the future?

“But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted.” Romans 6:17

Prayer: Heavenly Father, tell me what You want me to do and I’ll get right to work. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
