Dark Deeds

Bible Reading: Ephesians 5:1-14 & Luke 12:1-3

What do you do when you see someone acting hatefully toward someone else? What is your response when you see someone doing something unethical, immoral, or illegal?

Do you look the other way? Maybe you pretend you didn’t see anything? Or do you ignore what you saw or think, “It’s none of my business”?

While God wants us to leave revenge to Him, He doesn’t expect us to sit by and let cruel or wicked behavior go unnoticed.

The Apostle Paul said it very clearly in Ephesians 5:11 say, “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” When you see someone doing wrong, “expose” him. Witnessing bad behavior is not the time for silence or keeping secrets. Tell the appropriate person – parent, teacher, police officer what you know. Bring dark deeds to light so the doers of those deeds can be held accountable and your conscience will be clear.

Do you know of some dark deed that you should bring to light?

“There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs.” Luke 12:2

Prayer: Heavenly Father, give me courage to speak up when I need to. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
