Daily Devotion Dilemma

Bible Reading: Psalm 119:16

Psalm 119:16 says, “I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.” As a Christian, it is vital for us to read the Bible daily in order to maintain our spiritual health

and grow a strong faith

Does trying to plan a time to read your Bible and pray every day seem like an impossible task?

Don’t get trapped into believing that there is only one right way or only one right time of day to have a personal quiet time with God. In fact, there are probably as many solutions to the Daily Devotion Dilemma as there are people. How can you find your own personal solution to the Daily Devotion Dilemma?

Start by thinking about your schedule –

* When do you have free time each day?

* When can you get away by yourself for a few minutes?

Next, think about your lifestyle –

* Are you a morning person or a nightowl?

* Do you work and think best on a full stomach, an empty stomach, or with a light snack in you?

* Could you consider combining devotions with other activities like lunch, break-time at work, or during a study hall?

Finally, think about your spiritual goals –

* Do you want a dose of “vitamins” such as a short devotional magazine?

* Are you interested in doing an in-depth topical Bible study?

* Do you want to read through the Bible in a year or two or three years?

* Would you like to read selected books of the Bible?

Answers to those questions and others you might think of will help you find your personal solution to the Daily Devotion Dilemma.

“But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.” Psalm 1:2

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to be faithful in reading Your word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
