Bible Reading: Matthew 21:22
“Tie my shoe.”
“Hold my hand.”
“Tuck me in.”
When a small child goes to mommy or daddy for help, it doesn’t matter if what the tot is
asking for is something big and important or if it is simple and routine. When that little boy or girl needs something, mommy and daddy are happy and eager to respond because they love their child.
When we go to God in prayer, it doesn’t matter whether our requests are big and important or simple and routine. God is always eager to respond because we are God’s children and He loves us. In fact, in Matthew 21:22 Jesus said, “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
However, it’s important for us to remember that the response isn’t always the one we want or expect. Just as that small child might be told, “No,” or “Wait until after dinner,” when he or she asks for candy, God sometimes tells us, “No,” or “Wait.”
The parents know what is best for the child.
God knows what is best for us – His children.
Don’t hesitate to ask God for anything. No request is too small (or too big) for God. He guarantees to respond to them all. When He does, His response will be the best answer for us because Daddy knows best.
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us – whatever we ask – we know that we have what we asked of him.” 1 John 5:14 & 15
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for answering all of my prayers, even if Your answers or timing aren’t what I want or expect. I know that You know best. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
