Counting on Jesus

Bible Reading: 1 Timothy 2:5, 6

While many of us might prefer to try to forget that math exists, God seems to have a passion for counting things.

* 40 days and nights of rain, 40 days on the mountain, 40 years in Egypt, 40 years in the wilderness.

* 12 tribes of Israel, 12 patriarchs, 12 apostles.

* 10 commandments, 10 plagues.

* 7 days of creation, 7 beatitudes, the 7 churches, 7 years of tribulation.

* 4 winds, 4 quarters of the earth, 4 cherubim each with 4 wings and 4 faces.

* 3-fold blessing and the 3-part Godhead or trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

There are many other things that God counted in the Bible, but the most important number that God counts is the number 1. 1 Timothy 2:5 & 6 says, ““For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men-the testimony given in its proper time.” These verses point out the importance of 1:

* There is only 1 God and He has only 1 Son.

* That 1 Son is 1 Lord and 1 Savior of the world.

* That 1 Savior is the 1 Hope for our salvation from sin.

* That 1 Hope is the 1 way to heaven.

* That 1 Savior, 1 Lord, 1 Hope, is Jesus, The Christ, The 1 Son of the 1 Living God.

Are you “counting on Jesus” as your 1 way to eternal life in heaven?

“Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.” 1 Corinthians 8:6

Prayer: Heavenly Father, save me from my sin. I’m counting on You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
