Christmas Quotes 9: Not for Sale

Bible Reading: Ephesians 2:8-9

“Commercialization has obscured the meaning of Christmas. The commercial has become more important than the carol. What man has to sell more important than what God has given.” – Anonymous

Anonymous is right. Many people are more concerned with Christmas shopping and buying manmade things than they are about receiving the free gift that God is offering to them. People spend thousands of dollars buying gifts that they hope will please and satisfy the people who receive those gifts. Sadly, none of those gifts will last long. Even the best gift that money can buy is temporary.

However, Christmas is a reminder that God is offering us the absolute best gift free. This gift, the gift of salvation through faith in Jesus can’t be bought at any price. It is free, given to us by the grace of God. That means that we can’t buy it. We can’t earn it. We don’t even deserve it!

Why would God offer us the free gift of salvation from sin if we don’t deserve it?

Ephesians 2:8 & 9 say, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” Because God loves us deeply and unconditionally, He doesn’t want any of to think we did something amazing to earn or receive our salvation. He wants us to choose to trust Him, to trust Jesus, and to freely and willing accept the free gift of salvation and eternal life that He offers.

It may seem too easy that all we have to do to be forgiving of our sins and receive eternal life with God is to accept the free gift, but it’s true. Jesus did all the work on the cross. He made this free gift possible.

Have you accepted your free gift of forgiveness for your sins and eternal life with God yet?

What are you waiting for?

God is waiting to give you the most awesome “not for sale anywhere at any price” gift this Christmas!

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in[b] Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your free gift of salvation from my sin through faith in Jesus. I gratefully accept! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
