Christmas Creed - Part 2

Bible Reading: Matthew 16:15

Let’s start exploring “The Christmas Creed,” by thinking about the first phrase: “I believe in Jesus Christ…”

Jesus Christ is what Christmas is all about.

So, who is this Jesus Christ?

Jesus asked His disciples this question in Matthew 16:15 – “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered Jesus question saying in verse 16, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

Jesus is Christ, God’s Messiah. (Christ is the Greek word for Messiah.) The Messiah is the One God promised to send to die in our place so we could be forgiven of our sin and be given eternal life in heaven.

Jesus is also the Son of the living God.

God didn’t send just anyone to die in our place. God sent the one and only person that was qualified to die in our place – Jesus Christ.

God needed a person who was perfect, without sin, who could live the life of perfect obedience to God that we can’t live. Then, after living a perfect human life, this person needed to die on a cross as a sacrifice for all of us because we are not able to live in perfect obedience to God.

Have you confessed your sin to God, turned away from it, and told God that you believe that Jesus is the Christ? If so, are you living in obedience to God, allowing Jesus’ Holy Spirit to guide you? This Christmas, I pray that you will take time to consider your relationship with Jesus Christ.

“The angel said to them, ‘Don’t be afraid. I have some very good news for you – news that will make everyone happy. Today your Savior was born in David’s town. He is the Messiah, the Lord.’” Luke 2:10 & 11

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus Christ, the Messiah, who was born, died, and rose again to take away my sin. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
