Bible Reading: Ephesians 1:5
A man’s children are his heirs. As his children, they have certain rights and privileges. Anyone outside of the family is not entitled to the same rights and privileges
as that man’s children.
However, if a man adopts a boy or girl, that boy or girl becomes the same as a child born to that man. That adopted boy or girl has the same rights and privileges of the man’s natural-born children, because he or she has become a child of that man.
Our relationship with God works that same way. Ephesians 1:5 says that God “predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will.” Before we accept Jesus as our Savior, we are outsiders. We don’t belong to God’s family. Therefore, we don’t have the same privileges as God’s Son, Jesus. However, once we admit our sin and accept Jesus as our Savior from that sin, we become members of God’s family. In essence, God has adopted us! We are God’s children, and, as God’s children, we are entitled to the same rights and privileges as Jesus. Things like answers to prayer, having our needs provided for, joy, peace, and eternal life in heaven.
Won’t you let God adopt you now?
Tell Him about your sin, ask His forgiveness, and let Jesus enter your life and make you a child of God.
“You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.” Galatians 3:26 & 27
Prayer: Heavenly Father, forgive my sin and send Jesus into my heart to make me a child of God. In Jesus name. Amen.
