Boast in the Lord

Bible Reading: 2 Corinthians 10:17

2 Corinthians 10:17 says, “But, ‘Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.’” Boasting is a form of selfishness. A boastful person wants to draw attention to himself or herself. A

boastful person selfishly wants everyone’s attention.

Being boastful or selfish isn’t just impolite it is destructive. It creates massive cracks in our relationship with God because it causes us to act in ways that are exactly the opposite of how God wants us to act.

A boastful or selfish person is:

* A person who thinks more of himself than he should.

* Looks for ways to get those he sees as a less worthy than himself out of the way of his climb to the top.

* Talks and thinks constantly about his plans and desires.

* Thinks he is above the rules or the law.

* Believes he is can’t be defeated.

* Says whatever he wants without a thought of it affects others or how it sounds.

* Thinks God willingly overlooks his “mistakes”.

Do any of these things sound familiar? I hope not. I pray that you and I will follow Paul’s example and “boast in the Lord.”.

“Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; someone else, and not your own lips.” Proverbs 27:2

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I’m sorry for selfishly putting myself above others – and above You. Forgive me. Help me to only boast in Christ in the future. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
