Bible Reading: Proverbs 3:7
Proverbs 3:7 gives us a strong warning: “Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.”
God doesn’t like big egos. In fact, He is quick to squash them like a bug! God will shun all evil. He literally turns His back on it.
Do you want proof?
In Mark 10:35-40 Jesus scolded James and John for daring to ask for places of honor in heaven.
In Luke 18:11, 12 Jesus publicly told a parable to put some “I’m-better-than-you” types in their place.
In Acts 5:36 Theudas and all of his followers were killed because Theudas thought he was a “hotshot” – and he was not.
It’s probably a good idea to deflate your own ego before you get squashed, too.
“The LORD detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.” Proverbs 16:5
