Be Someone's Onesiphorus

Bible Reading: 2 Timothy 1:16-18

“May the Lord show mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains. On the contrary, when he was in

Rome, he searched hard for me until he found me. May the Lord grant that he will find mercy from the Lord on that day! You know very well in how many ways he helped me in Ephesus.”

Onesiphorus loved Paul unconditionally. We all long for someone to love us that way. We long for someone to love us despite our flaws or background. Someone who is honored to be with us regardless of what mistakes we’ve made. Someone who will go out of his or her way to spend time with us. Someone who knows when we need encouragement, support, or a shoulder to cry on. Someone who brings a smile to our face every time we think about him or her. Someone who would do anything to help us. Someone who is always there for us.

As much as we long for someone to be our Onesiphorus, we should also want to be Onesiphorus for someone else.

Thank God for the Onesiphorus in your life.

Ask God to help you be Onesiphorus for someone else.

“Above all, love each other deeply…” 1 Peter 4:8

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to be someone who loves others the way Onesiphorus loved Paul. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
