Bible Reading: Hebrews 9:11-15

Purging excess food by using laxatives or forced vomiting is not a healthy way to lose weight or to maintain your weight. There are many dangerous and even deadly side

affects to such behavior.

However, it is extremely beneficial to our emotional, physical, and spiritual health to purge our systems of mean thoughts, foul language, vindictive attitudes, and vengeful actions.

Thankfully, we don’t have to do the work of purging those unpleasant and wicked things from our lives by ourselves. Hebrews 9:14 assures us that Jesus already did the work of cleansing our lives of these things saying, “How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!”

Now we must claim that cleansing. We must accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, telling Him about the impurities that need purged from our lives and claiming His shed blood as the cleanser needed to purge our lives of those sins and make us clean.

I hope you have accepted Christ as your Savior. I hope you have asked God to purge all sin from your life and help you to live a life pleasing to Him. You will have a new identity in Christ. You can ask yourself the question, "Who am I in Christ?" and promptly answer, "I am forgiven of all my sin and washed in the blood of Jesus!"

“For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance – now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.” Hebrews 9:15

Prayer: Heavenly Father, show me anything that I need to purge from my life and give me the courage and willingness to force them out of my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
