Hebrews 6:16-20
An anchor holds a boat in one place. It keeps the boat from drifting away from where it’s owner wants it to be. It steadies the boat against the push and pull of the waves and
the gusts of the wind.
Jesus is our spiritual anchor. Hebrews 6:19 & 20 says, “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.” When we firmly attach Jesus to the “boat” of our life, we can stand firm in our faith. With Jesus as our anchor, we keep from drifting away from the place that God has chosen for us and we remain steady, undaunted by the push and pull of the world’s evils and the gusty attacks of Satan.
To anchor yourself in Christ you must first choose Christ – decide that your place is with God. Next, you must remain constant – determine to hold your ground and firmly stand with God. Finally, you must continue – let God direct you forward in your faith.
“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love.” Ephesians 3:16 & 17
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I choose Christ. Help me to remain constant and continue to move forward in my faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
