Always Ready to Help

ALWAYS READY TO HELP

by Gayle J. Thorn

Bible Reading: Psalm 46:1-3

On September 11, when the terrible attacks were make on the Pentagon and the World Trade Center, I was stunned. Like the rest of the country, I was in need of reassurance

that God was with me; with the United States of America. Therefore, I turned to my Bible, asking God to give me a verse or two that I could include as a part of my prayers.

God immediately drew my attention to today’s scripture, Psalm 46:1-3. This passage says, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.” When I read that God was our refuge and strength, even if the mountains should fall into the sea, I could see in my mind God watching over us and protecting us, even as skyscrapers fell into the bay.

Are you still feeling uncertain about the future; afraid of the unknown yet to come? Turn to God. Trust God. He is with you, ever-present, always ready to help, to protect, to give courage, to strengthen, and to love you.

“The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” 2 Timothy 4:18

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for always being there to watch over me, to protect me, and to comfort me in my time of need. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Use Psalm 46:1-3 as a part of your prayer adding thanks to God for His promise in these verses.
