Bible Reading: James 2:8
Should I…or shouldn’t I?
Is it right or wrong to…?
Would Jesus do this?
Sadly, deciding whether or not to do something isn’t always a simple matter. Not all choices have clear-cut, black or white, do or don’t do answers.
When we are confronted with one of those “gray area” decisions, how can we be sure that the choice we make is the right choice? Follow the instructions found in James 2:8 – “If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, "Love your neighbor as yourself," you are doing right.”
Act out of love.
Every choice we make should demonstrate first our love for God and second our love for other people. If we always choose to do only those things that show others that we love God and that we love them, we can always know that we’ve made the right choice, because acts of love are always right.
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34 & 35
Prayer: Heavenly Father, remind me to always act out of love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
