Acts of Kindness

Bible Reading: Philippians 4:14-18

In today’s Bible verses, Paul’s friends at Philippi had some pretty good ideas about how to make a friend’s life more pleasant:

* Listen to a troubled friend.

* Lend a helping hand to an overextended friend.

* Give necessities to a needy friend.

* Work alongside and overworked friend.

* Send unexpected surprises to a discouraged friend.

* Offer words of hope and encouragement to a downhearted friend.

In Philippians 4:18 Paul said this to the people of Philippi: “I have received full payment and even more; I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.” These simple acts of kindness shown by the people of Philippi to their friend, Paul, helped make his life more comfortable.

When we do small acts of kindness, we, too can make the lives of those we care about more comfortable and enjoyable and show them that we sincerely care about them. In addition, they are “a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.”

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to practice showing love to the people around through small acts of kindness every day. In Jesus name. Amen.
