A Spiritually Healthy Heart

Bible Reading: Psalm 51:10

Most of us try to keep our bodies healthy. We know that exercise, nutritious food, and adequate rest, are necessary to keep our bodies healthy. We like the way a healthy,

toned body looks, and we know that the health of our body’s organs – like the heart – is dependent upon how well we take care of ourselves.

Even more important than how we look on the outside or how well we take care of our physical health, is taking care of our spiritual health. Our spiritual heart – the very core of our lives – depends upon it.

God values a healthy (pure) spiritual heart so much that He sees to it that we have one when we accept Christ as our Savior. It’s up to us to continue to turn to God to keep our spiritual heart in shape. To do that, it is essential to exercise our spiritual muscles through prayer and time in God’s word. Avoiding anything that could potentially strain or do damage to the purity of our spiritual heart is also important.

What are you doing to keep your spiritual heart healthy and pure?

Why not used David’s words in Psalm 51:10, “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me,” to ask God to give you a new and pure heart today?

“I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God.” Ezekiel 11:19 & 20

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I want to be new and pure. I want my spirit to be strong and faithful. Do whatever You need to do in my life to make that happen. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
