Bible Verses to Explore: Galatians 5:13- 15
In Mark 12:33, Jesus said, “you must love God with all your heart, all your mind, and all your strength. And you must love others the same as you love yourself.”
The Apostle Paul repeats Jesus’ teaching in Galatians 5:14 saying, “Love your neighbor the same as you love yourself.”
Paul went on in verse 14 to say that when we love each other, we should “serve each other with love.” That means we should help each other become closer to God. There are many ways we can help each other become closer to God. For example: Pray for each other. Pray with each other. Read the Bible together. Share your Deaf Missions devotional book
or DVD with each other. Go to church together. Join a Bible study group together. Play basketball, watch movies, or do other activities together.
When we do things like these with each other, we show our love for each other. We show our love for God. When people who don’t know Jesus as their Savior see us loving and serving each other, they may want to know more about Jesus, too.
I hope we will all take to heart the reminders in Galatians 5:13 – “My brothers and sisters, God chose you to be free. But don't use your freedom as an excuse to do what pleases your sinful selves. Instead, serve each other with love.”
I also hope you will find a way to show your brothers and sisters in Christ that you love them today.
Please pray with me. Heavenly Father, help us to serve our Christian family with love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
