Bible Reading: Job 24:1
We’ve heard over and over that good will triumph over evil; the righteous will flourish and the wicked will get what they deserve. If that is true, why does it often seem that the
opposite is actually true? Job wondered the same things asking, “Why does the Almighty not set times for judgment? Why must those who know him look in vain for such days?” (Job 24:1)
It is frustrating to look around and see so many people who ignore God and yet still seem to have all the good stuff the world can offer. Be assured their “success” is temporary. They may “have it all” now, but, their success can only last as long as they live on earth, maybe as long as 100 years or so. When they die, if they have persisted in rejecting God and serving only themselves, they will lose everything. For all of the rest of ETERNITY, they will have NOTHING!
On the other hand, those of us who seem to have very little “success” by the world’s standards, yet have given God priority in our lives, will inherit eternal life, salvation from eternal death, the kingdom of God, and eternal joy, peace, and happiness!
Now, who really succeeds in the end?
“Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.” James 1:12
Prayer: Heavenly Father, when I receive what You’ve promised to me I’ll feel like a true success! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
