Wednesday at the Well: Philippians 3:12-21 - Scars

Bible Verses to Explore: Philippians 3:12-21

Have you ever had chicken pox? Have you had surgery or a serious cut that required stitches?

Chicken pox, surgery, and cuts can leave scars on the outside of our bodies. Disease and sickness scar the inside of our bodies. Scars can look awful. Scars can make us feeling unattractive or unhealthy.

Thankfully, if we have asked Jesus to forgive our sins and take charge of our lives, we won’t have to live in our scarred, imperfect bodies for long. God promised us that when we get to heaven we will get BRAND NEW bodies –a healthy, scar-free bodies. In today’s Bible reading Paul said, "We

are waiting for our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, to come from there. He will change our humble bodies and make them like his own glorious body" (verses 20b-21a). Imagine – living in heaven with a perfect body! Also, 2 Corinthians 5:4 contains a great reminder saying, “While we live in this tent, we have burdens and so we complain. I don't mean that we want to remove this tent, but we want to be clothed with our heavenly home. Then this body that dies will be covered with life.”

I have a number of scars. Someday, all my scars, physical and emotional will be gone. I will live in heaven with Jesus and I will have no more scars.

I hope to see you there!

Let’s pray together.

Heavenly Father, remind us often of Your promise of a new body, especially when our present bodies look or feel less than perfect. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Thanks for reading this devotion and praying with me.

I want to encourage you to take a bit more of your precious time and spend it with God by downloading the Inductive Study Guide and using it to help you learn more about today’s scripture verses.

God bless!
