Sharing the Sweet Words

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

Bible Reading: Psalm 119:97-104

You know how wonderful the Bible is. Each day you look forward to the special time that you have set aside to spend with God reading your Bible. If only your friends felt the

same way. In Psalm 119:103, David described the uniqueness of God’s word this way: “How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” How can you encourage your friends to spend time reading the Bible each day?

* Tell them about some of the interesting things that you’ve read in the Bible.

* Point out how the Bible has helped you make decisions and live your everyday life.

* Tell them about all of the different kinds of literature that are in the Bible – mystery, romance, history, science, letters, adventure, war stories, and more!

* Look for interesting or unusual tidbits to pass along such as the first birthday party (Genesis 40:20), a talking donkey (Numbers 22:28-30), and a nine foot tall man (1 Samuel 17:4).

If you friend is willing to begin reading his or her Bible every day, offer to check in with him or her to see how it’s going – and ask them to check up on you to be sure that you are keeping up with your daily Bible time.

“The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.” Psalm 19:9b & 10

Prayer: Heavenly Father, remind me to read Your Word each day and help me to encourage my friends to read it, too. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
