Rusty Connections

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

Bible Reading: Psalm 66:18 (NLT)

Rust keeps the electricity from flowing into the light bulb. It breaks the connection. Therefore, the bulb won’t light up. You need to clean out the rust so the parts of the

flashlight can reconnect if you want the flashlight to light up.

Unconfessed sin does the same thing. Unconfessed sin, sin that you are keeping from God, acts like rust between a battery and the end of the light bulb in a flashlight. It breaks the connection between us and God.

Psalm 66:18 (NLT) says, “If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, my Lord would not have listened.” If we have committed any sins, disobeyed God in any way, we need to tell God about that sin and ask His forgiveness for those sins so those sin won’t keep God from listening to our prayers.

Take some time right now to look for “rust” (sin) in your life. Clean it out so you will have a good connection to God when you pray.

“He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.” Proverbs 28:13

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I’ve done some things that I need to tell you about. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
