Bible Reading: Acts 17:16-34
If you want to bake a cake, you need to be able to read the recipe, do the math involved in buying the ingredients and in measuring them, know how to operate an oven,

and be able to tell time.
Every activity requires that you have certain basic knowledge before you can participate in it. Whether you want to rebuild a carburetor, play the piano, or play football or baseball, you need specific knowledge to accomplish what you set out to do.
In Acts 17, we read about a time when Paul visited Athens. The people in Athens worshipped many gods. In an attempt to be sure they didn’t overlook a god, they even made an altar to the “unknown god.” Verse 23 described the scene this way, “For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. Now what you worship as something unknown I am going to proclaim to you.”
Worshipping God, like baking a cake or playing a game, requires knowledge. In order to sincerely worship God, you need to know:
* Who God is.
* What makes God happy.
* What displeases God.
* What honors God.
* What dishonors God.
* What things God has provided for you to use in worshipping Him.
* How God wants to be worshipped.
I hope you will invest time getting to know God so that you can “worship in spirit and in truth” John 4:24.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I want to honor You and make You happy. Teach me how to do that. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
