Wednesday at the Well: Psalm 119:57-64 - Loyalty

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

Bible Verses to Explore: Psalm 119:57-64

A new puppy bonds with his master. The master takes care of the puppy. He gives the puppy food to eat and a home to live in. The master trains the puppy. When he trains

the puppy, the master is showing the puppy how to be obedient. The master’s training also shows the puppy how to thank his master.

The puppy serves and thanks his master by obeying his master’s commands. That is loyalty. The puppy’s loyal obedience to his master shows his master and everyone else that the puppy loves his master and trusts him.

God, our Master, gives us food and a home, too. Psalm 119:60 says, “I will hasten and

not delay to obey your commands.” Like that puppy, we need to obey our master. That is one way we show Him that we love Him.

We don’t have to understand how to obey God right away. God will train us. He will teach us how to obey Him and how to thank Him.

When we ask Jesus to become our Lord and Savior, we become bonded to Him. Because of this bond with our Master, we trust Him and love Him. 1 John 5:3 says, “This is love for God: to obey his commands.” That means we want to obey Him. We also want to thank Him for taking care of us and for teaching us. We thank God and show Him that we love and trust him by loyally obeying Him.

Remember, Jesus, Himself said in John 14:23, “All who love me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them. My Father and I will come to them and live with them.” Are you loyally obeying your Master? Are you obeying Jesus?

Let’s pray together. Heavenly Father, we want to show You how much we love You by obeying You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

I hope you will show God a bit more love by spending a few more minutes in His word. To help you do that, you can click the logo and download the Inductive Bible Study Guide. Enjoy your time lovin’ on God!
