Give God Credit

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

Bible Reading: Jeremiah 9:23, 24

Who is the smartest person you know? Who’s the wisest? Who’s the strongest? Who is the kindest? Who is the most patient?

Were you tempted to answer any of these questions with your own name? Are you the subject of most of the conversation that you have with other people? Do you give yourself frequent pats on the back?

Perhaps you are making yourself into a greater person than you really are. In today’s Bible Reading, God gave us this warning: “'Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,' declares the LORD.”

The only one who truly deserves to boast or be boasted about is God. God is the only one who can honestly say that He has always and will always do everything perfectly. Only God can claim to truly be the smartest, wisest, strongest, kindest, or most patient individual.

I hope we all will give God all of the credit that He does deserves!

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power.” Revelation 4:11

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I praise, worship, and adore You. You are the only One worthy of my devotion. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
