Bible Reading: Romans 15:4
Discouragement. Desperation. Despair. Those words even sound depressing.
What can you do to keep these powerful emotions from causing you to feel beaten
down?
Remind yourself that…Jesus cares, Jesus loves you, and Jesus wants to take care of you and provide you with everything you need to be happy.
Then allow Jesus to take away the heavy load of discouragement, desperation, and despair that you are carrying and replace it with His light load of joy, peace, and calm confidence.
One of the ways Jesus encourages us is through His word. Romans 15:4 says, “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” Regularly reading the Bible is an awesome way to keep discouragement, desperation, and despair at bay.
Talking to God through prayer is another way that we can be encouraged. Spending time in God’s presence is uplifting.
A third source of encouragement is spending time with fellow believers. As Christians it is our responsibility to “encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today” (Hebrews 3:13).
Come to Jesus today. Give Him all of your discouragement, desperation, and despair. Begin reading the Bible regularly and talking to God continually. Spend time with other Christians. Let Jesus, His word, and His people encourage you and give you hope.
“But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you.” Psalm 39:7
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for always being there. Thank You for Your word and Your people and the encouragement they offer. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
