Wednesday at the Well: Matthew 5:14-16 - Let Your Light Shine!

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

Bible Verses to Explore: Matthew 5:14-16

Working or playing in the dark is hard. You can’t see what your hands are doing. You can’t see where your feet are walking. You can’t find the things you need to work or play.

It is much easier to work or play if you turn on a light.

Living without Jesus in your heart is like living in the dark. People need to have a light to show them the way to Jesus. Verse 14 of today’s Bible reading says, “You are the light that shines for the world to see.” We are to be the light that leads people to Jesus. Here are some ways we can let our light shine so people can find Jesus:

  1. Do kind things for people. This helps people see God’s love.

  2. Pray for people. This helps people see God at work in your life and in their lives.

  3. Go to church regularly. This shows that God is important to you.

  4. Invite people to go to church and church-related events with you. This shows people that they are important to God. It also shows that God wants to be important to them

, too.

I hope you will follow Jesus’ instructions in Matthew 5:16, which says, “In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.” Turn on your light and let it shine brightly for Jesus today!

Let’s pray together…Heavenly Father, use our lights to show our friends the way to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

I invite you now to click on the logo and download the Inductive Study Guide so you can spend some more time exploring Matthew 5:14-16. Have fun!
