Bible Reading: Colossians 3:15
There are many ways that a friend can give you the feeling of peace, a sense of calm assurance that God is in control and things will work out for the best. That friend could
pray with you, help you study or complete some other job, or sit with you while someone you love has surgery.
God goes a step further. He doesn’t just give you the feeling of peace, God gives you His peace. God’s peace isn’t something that can come and go with emotions or situations. Colossians 3:15 says, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” When this verse says that God’s peace rules in your hearts, it means that God’s peace is something that endures, something that controls, something that gives permanent confidence that God is with you in all circumstances.
Since God always knows the outcome of every situation, He is always calm and assured of the best outcome. As a Christian, you have God’s Holy Spirit filling your heart and mind. The calm assurance of God is a part of that Holy Spirit. If you let Him, God will let you become aware of that peace that is already in you, the peace that He called you to have when He saved you. God’s peace will fill you completely and thoroughly so that you, too, will have the same calm assurance of the best outcome for your difficult situations as God has.
“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.” 2 Thessalonians 3:16
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to become aware of the peace of the Holy Spirit that You have given to me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
