Just a Taste

Bible Reading: 2 Corinthians 8:9

Jesus suffered more pain and heartache than we have ever or will ever experience. 2 Corinthians 8:9 says, “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich,

yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.” When the Son of God came to earth, He was:

* Stuffed into the body of a tiny, helpless human baby.

* Unfairly criticized.

* Abandoned by all of his friends at the lowest point in His life.

* Accused of crimes He didn’t commit.

* Illegally tried and condemned.

* Rejected by the very people whom He sought to save from the punishment of death.

In addition, Jesus suffered the heartache of giving up everything He knew and being separated from His Father.

He went through all that knowing in advance that many of us would reject the sacrifice He made for us.

The next time you are hurting from an illness or a tragedy, remind yourself that what you are feeling is just a taste of the level of suffering, pain, and heartache that Jesus experienced. Let God know how grateful you are for all that Jesus suffered on your behalf, then seek God’s strength and comfort to help you through whatever difficulty or painful situation you find yourself in. He has promised to be with you and to see you through.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus to suffer so much for me. Thank You for promising to be with me when I am hurting. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
