Focus on Jesus this Christmas - Christmas Aftershocks Part 8

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

Bible Reading: 1 Timothy 4:13

Jesus was born to die for us. That is the core lesson of Christmas. Once we have claimed that truth and accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, asking Him for forgive our

sins and give us His Holy Spirit, changes begin to take place in our lives. These changes don’t happen all at once. They are like the aftershocks of an earthquake that continue to vibrate throughout our lives as we live for Christ and grow in our relationship with Him.

Another of these aftershocks that should be rumbling through our lives is worship, both private worship between us and God, and corporate worship where we gather with other believers. The value of attending regular worship gatherings can’t be understated. In group worship, we learn more about how to worship and true worship is. We encourage each other. We discover each other’s needs and gain opportunities to help meet those needs. We find opportunities to serve God and minister to people.

In 1 Timothy 4:13, Paul encouraged Timothy to “devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching.” Paul’s instructions for Timothy apply to us as well. Let’s all plan to gather publicly, in our church homes, to worship God regularly and allow the joy and benefit of worship to continue to reverberate through our lives.

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24 & 25

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the opportunity to worship with my brothers and sisters in Christ. Remind me to be faithful in attending worship services. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
