Bible Reading: Luke 2:17 & 18
When something big or important happens, we want to tell everyone we know about it. When we have good news or bought something new that we really enjoy, we don’t
waste time telling anyone who will listen all about it.
The shepherds who went to see Jesus on that first Christmas were the same way. After seeing the Christ Child, the promised Messiah, for themselves, Luke 2:17 and 18 tell us that the first thing they did was spread the word. These verses say this: “When they had him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.”
If you have accepted Jesus into your heart and life and made Him your Lord and Savior, that good news should be an aftershock echoing through your life so strongly that you can’t help but want to tell people about Jesus and what He has done for you.
I encourage you to tell someone today! Don’t hold back. Don’t be afraid. Like the people that heard the shepherd’s good news, people today are eager for the hope that is only available through Jesus and will be amazed to learn how Jesus has changed your life.
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for my salvation through Jesus. Guide me as I tell others what He has done for me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
