Focus on Jesus this Christmas - Christmas Aftershocks Part 4

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

Bible Reading: Luke 8:17

Adam and Eve tried it and failed.

Tried what?

Keeping secrets from God.

Adam and Eve aren’t alone. Every person since who has tried to keep their sins and failures from God has failed. In fact, we have all tried to hide something from God, even though we know that it is impossible to keep secrets from the all-knowing God. Jesus, Himself, said, “For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.”

The knowledge that God knows everything we do and ever word we speak should cause us to live transparently before our God, an aftershock to our salvation that should reverberate throughout our lifetimes. Knowing that God is always aware of our actions and words should shake us out of our complacency. It should move us from lives of mediocrity and apathy toward lives of vibrancy, excellence, and godly living. Knowing that God is always watching and listening should push us to avoid sin and please Him in all we do, say, and even in what we think. (Yes, God knows our thoughts!)

Do you think you are keeping something from God?

Think again.

I encourage you to pull whatever you think you are keeping from God out of hiding, confess it, and ask God to help you live openly and honestly for Him.

“There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.” Luke 12:2

Prayer: Heavenly Father, forgive me for trying to hide my sin from You. Help me to live a life of transparency and honesty before You from now on. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
