Wednesday at the Well: 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 - Imagine!

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

Bible Verses to Explore: 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Imagine that edge of your computer keyboard or kitchen table represents your life. From the left corner to the right corner is 100 years. Imagine that we take all of the

suffering you experience during those 100 years and squished them together so they all happen during the first 50 years. Put your finger on the left corner of your keyboard or table. Trace the edge until you come to the end of 50 years. How much of your life was spent suffering? About half, right?

Now, imagine your life with Christ as your Savior. That life will go on forever. The edge of your keyboard or table represents your life from birth to the end of eternity. Start at the left corner again and

trace the edge until you come to the end of 50 years of trouble. Now, how much of your life was spent suffering? Fifty years of suffering compared to a life that lasts forever seems to last less than one heartbeat.

Romans 8:17 says, “If we are God's children, we will get the blessings God has for his people. He will give us all that he has given Christ. But we must suffer like Christ suffered. Then we will be able to share his glory,” and 2 Corinthians 4:17 says, “We have small troubles for a while now, but these troubles are helping us gain an eternal glory. That eternal glory is much greater than our troubles.” We suffer now, but imagine what wonderful things we will share with Jesus in heaven forever!

Let’s pray. Heavenly Father, when life is hard, help us to sit back and imagine all the blessings You have for us in heaven. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

I invite you now to download the Inductive Study Guide and spend a little time studying today’s verses and imagining your blessings in heaven.
