God Will Provide

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

Bible Reading: 1 Kings 17:1-6

Do you eat more than you should (even occasionally)?

Have you ever eaten something only because –

* It was the last of the package and you didn’t know if or when you’d get more?

* You didn’t want someone else to eat it first?

* You didn’t know if you would have time to stop for dinner?

* You didn’t want it to go to waste?

I have. Many people have eating disorders. Some have food addictions. Most misuse or overuse food as a way to hide their feelings, comfort themselves, or simply for entertainment.

Food should never be that important to us. Yes, we need food to live, but we don’t, and shouldn’t, need to live to eat.

Elijah lived during a time of great drought and famine, yet God saw to it that Elijah had food to eat and water to drink even when the rest of the nation was starving. “The ravens brought him [Elijah] bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook” (1 Kings 17:6). Elijah always had enough food to nourish him. God never failed to provide a meal for him.

God will see to it that you have food, too. You don’t ever need to overeat to “store” food for tomorrow. You can trust God to take care of you.

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” Matthew 6:26

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I trust You to supply all my needs. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
