Wednesday at the Well: 1 John 3:20 - God Knows

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

Bible Verses to Explore: 1 John 3:20

Do you know all of the answers to every question that anyone could ever ask?

I don’t.

Do you know anyone who does?

That’s one question that I do know the answer to – God. God knows all of the answers to all of the questions that everyone in the whole world could ever think to ask.

How do I know that God knows all the answers to every question you and I have? The Bible tells me so in 1 John 3:20b. This verse reads: “For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.”

Not only does God know the answers to all of our questions, God knows the

questions before they are ever asked. He also knows exactly which of us will ask each question and when we will ask it. He also knows exactly the best way to answer each question and when to answer them. He knows whether or not we are strong enough to cope with the answers or prepared enough to understand the answers. God knows what each of us looks like, what we like to do, what foods we like to eat, what kind of music we enjoy -- everything about us. He knew those things not only before we were born, he knew all of those things before he ever created the world!

Since God knows all that, don’t you think he also knows exactly what is best for you?

Who do you trust to lead you and guide your decision-making – someone who knows some of the answers or God who not only knows all the answers but all the questions, too? Remember, “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” (Hebrews 4:13).

Let’s pray.

Heavenly Father, use your great knowledge and wisdom to show us what’s best for our lives. In Jesus' name. Amen.
