Bible Verses to Explore: 1 John 4:8-18
1 John 4:16 says, “So we know the love that God has for us, and we trust that love. God is love. Everyone who lives in love lives in God, and God lives in them.” Notice that this verse
says, “God is love.” Does that mean God is the mushy, romantic type?
Actually, the Bible talks about different kinds of love. The kind of love the Bible is referring to when it says, "God is love," means that God loves everyone unconditionally. In other words, no matter what a person says, does, or, thinks, God will always love him.
Jesus proved this unconditional by his life here on earth. When people ridiculed him, he loved them anyway. When people insulted him, he loved them anyway. When people
made up lies about him, he loved them anyway. When people wrongly accused him, he loved them anyway. When people hated him, he loved them anyway. When people tried to kill him, he loved them anyway. When people rejected him, he loved them anyway. When people executed Jesus on the cross, HE LOVED THEM ANYWAY.
In John 15:12, Jesus said, “This is what I command you: Love each other as I have loved you.”
Do you know someone who ridicules you, insults you, lies about you, hates you, or has done other things to hurt you?
Love them anyway.
Please pray with me. Heavenly Father, bless those people that are mean to us. Help us to love them anyway. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
