Paul's Advice

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 7:27 & 28

In 1 Corinthians 7:27, Paul advised, “Are you married? Do not seek a divorce. Are you unmarried? Do not look for a wife.”

If you have chosen to follow Paul’s advice and contentedly remain single, (at least until God sends the right person your way), rather than actively searching for Miss or Mr. Right, how should you spend the time that you might otherwise have used dating?

Study scripture, pray, and talk to mature, trustworthy Christians to learn:

* What genuine commitment is.

* What true love looks like.

* How to set and achieve both short and long term goals.

* How to be a godly husband or wife.

Developing a mature, adult perspective on life and marriage and on God’s expectation of married or seriously committed men and women will help prepare you for that serious relationship, if and when God sends it your way.

How can you know if you are seriously committed enough to someone to be ready for marriage?

Ask yourself the following question: Am I willing to give up everything I have or even die for this person?

If your answer is a resounding, “Yes!” – you’re ready.

“‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’ So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.” Matthew 19:5 & 6

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to be prepared for the time when You send the right person my way. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
